Praying Mantis Cederberg
R2745
A praying mantis walking past on the dusty Cedeberg soil.
This oil painting was done during a camping trip to Stompiesfontein in the Warm Bokkeveld, Ceres-Karoo, RSA. At the time I was conversing with a fellow artist Stanley Pinker, when a green Praying Mantis walked past us on the dusty soil. This was very unusual, as one gets a brown type there, but the green ones are usually in green lush foliage. I made a quick sketch in water colour and later painted the oil painting.
