Dry Slate Covered Riverbed
R3730
My friend, the poet Louis Esterhuizen, asked if he could use my painting on the cover of his anthology of poetry called Liefland.
Groenfontein, Kaggakamma, Swartruggens, Cederberg – 1999.
This oil painting was done as a series on dry riverbeds. The river being the Rietrivier on the farm Groenfontein, which belongs to my friends, Volker and Angela Miros. I laid the empty trays on the bed of the river at the bottom of a ravine known as the “canyon” in order to place objects in them later.
