In Utero 1

In this complex painting, completed in 1992, I depicted iconography and symbols of what was going on in my life and mind at the time. Sue was pregnant with our eldest daughter Anouk, I was still struggling with religious issues connected to my divorce, academia, time, sexuality and other intriguing aspects such as the ever-present Cedarberg landscape and the sarcophagus relating to my mother’s death.
